| Editorial Reviews: Product Description Yoseph is lucky, he attends a school that embraces diversity. The children sing songs about Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzza in the school's holiday show. And this year the music teacher is eager to include a song for the Muslim Holiday Eid al-Adha. Yoseph has to use his love for music and his talent for the viola to help bring a Muslim song to the show. He gives everyone the best gift of all- the gift of song. This book is about being accepted and being proud of one's own identity. All children deal with these issues no matter what their beliefs or backgrounds. | |||||||||||
Customer Reviews: A Song for Me January 19, 2008Marianne Cane (Leonia, New Jersey) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful This book fills a gaping hole in multicultural material concerning Muslim holidays. The CD was low quality, and cannot be used in a classroom. The sheet music for the Eid song is printed in the book, which helps make up for the defective CD. Great January 18, 2008C. DeNardis (Michigan) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful This book is very basic for our entire school to enjoy during both Eid's. The CD is great explaining everything. The book that I was looking for! December 13, 2007read to learn (NC,USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful The book is talking about all muslim students in public schools who feel left-out every year in December where they learn about different Holidays"Christmas,Hannukah,Kwanzah,Diwali..etc" And no one mention their Holiday Eid.It's a nice book that was written without relegious words which make it easy to read it in a classroom or a library! It should be fun for the kids to learn about some cultures and traditions! I got this book from another website but I'm waiting to order more from amazon as gifts ... Only I have to mention that the CD isn't as I expected ,it has relegious information about Islam which I think would be good only for Muslim kids to have !!!! | |||||||||||
